A Greeting from Robin Dorff

In an effort both to stay in touch generally and to call our attention to a wide range of "things political", I just wanted to share the attached announcement of an upcoming event at NC State that should be of interest to the IOPL family.

The Actors' Gang will be performing "George Orwell's 1984" Saturday, September 16th. While I cannot speak personally for the production, I do know the company's reputation (it is excellent) and I serve on the NC State Theatre Endowment Board (and the programming there is outstanding).

This might be something you would enjoy. It is not "family fare" but the reviews suggest that it is thought-provoking and very good theater.

Please continue to keep us posted on what you are up to. We will be sharing updates of our progress on the strategic assessment very soon.

Reminder about David Gergen Speaking Engagement

As announced in a previous newsletter, David Gergen will be speaking to the Harvard Club on September 28 and IOPL Fellows have graciously been invited to the gathering.

If you are interested in attending, please act now as space is filling up!

Advance registrations are required by September 20th. The cost for the dinner and program is $30 per person for Harvard Club members and one guest, and $35 for each nonmember and additional guest. To sign up, please send your check, payable to Harvard Club of the Research Triangle to Bob Whyte, 103 Cameron Glen Dr., Chapel Hill, NC 27516.

Martha Sue Hall is running for Clerk of Superior Court in Stanly County. She has worked in the Judicial System of NC for the past 23 years with the District Court Judges' Office; Family Court; DA's Office; GAL Program and Court Improvement.

She is a graduate of IOPL, Leadership NC and Leadership Stanly. Martha served as a County Commissioner for two terms having first been elected in 1994 and re-elected in 1998. She is currently serving the third year of a four-year term on the Albemarle City Council.
