Alice Bordsen, NC House District 63

Alice Bordsen, 2001 Spring Fellow, is running for re-election to a fourth term in the House of Representatives for the Alamance County district. Read more about her goals and efforts. Elaine Marshall, 1991 Spring Fellow, is running for re-election to the office of Secretary of State. She is presently serving in that role and is seeking to continue working to provide greater accountability and openness in state government, ensuring equal access to public records, safeguarding consumers, retailers, and manufacturers from counterfeit goods, and safeguarding citizens from financial crimes. Robin Wilson Ramsey, Spring 2000 Fellow, Campaign Manager for Nathan Ramsey

Robin Wilson, 2000 Fellow, is managing the campaign for re-election of Nathan Ramsey as Chairman of the Buncombe County Commissioners. Robin is now Robin Wilson Ramsey and is working hard to help get her husband re-elected. Robin has worked for candidates in her home town of Asheville, NC, and in state-wide campaigns. Zack Ambrose, Campaign Manager for Beverly Perdue

Zach Ambrose, 1999 Fellow, is serving as Beverly Perdue's campaign manager. Ambrose previously served as director of the state Senate Caucus in the 2002 and 2004 elections and worked as Perdue's chief of staff from 2005 to 2007. Tim Dunn, US Congress District 8

Democrat Tim Dunn, Spring 2004, is a challenger in the upcoming contest for North Carolina's 8th Congressional District. A Fayetteville native and Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserve Tim has served in both Iraq and Europe. When asked why he is running, Tim says he is concerned that we have failed to give our servicemen and women in Iraq the tools that they need to win and haven't clearly defined our strategy for winning. And he states he is deeply troubled by what he sees as Congress' failure to keep its promises to our nation's veterans.

Michael Morgan, US Congressional District 11

Democrat Clyde Michael Morgan, Fall 2005, has tossed his hat in the ring for the 11th Congressional District Seat representing Western North Carolina. When asked why he is seeking this office, Michael states, "I am not a politician and I will never be one. I intend to be a representative of the people, the working class citizens, not corporations. And I intend to represent the mountains, who have no voice.""I'm running for office because I'm angry. I'm fed up. I want changes, because some of the things that are happening these days are just not right, and some things that need to be happening are not."

Ada Fisher, US Congressional District 12

Republican Dr. Ada M. Fisher, Spring 2005, is running for US Congress from District 12. Dr. Fisher's campaign message is focused on jobs, affordable healthcare within the free enterprise system and national defense with homeland security including improved veteran's services and immigration reform imbedded in the 12th District's areas of strength -- banking, health care, education and sports. Ada M. Fisher, MD, MPH is a business minded physician with management experience in two major "Fortune 500" corporations as a Medical Director and Manager in Occupational Medicine, as well as public and private sector work in family medicine, community medicine and public health services. In November 2003, she also co-wrote and released a booklet, "Preparations to Survive a Terrorist Attack: Citizen's Advisory", which is based on her training in this area.

Charlie Sutherland, US Congressional District 13

Republican Charlie Sutherland, Spring 1998, is running for US Congress from District 13.Charlie says he doesn't fit the mold of a politician. He is a conservative, a conservationist and a gun owner. He believes in term limits, that service to your country is a duty not a profession. He also believes in a fiscal and fair tax code, that it is needed to secure and strengthen our free enterprise system and encourage participation by those denied in our present system.Charlie is a small business owner and was educated at Duke, North Carolina State University, Greensboro College and Clemson University.

Republican Micheal Speciale, Spring 2005, has announced he is running for North Carolina House from District 3. Michael, when asked what he would like to do as the Representative from District 3, says he intends to work on: Incentives to entice new business into this state, without corporate subsidies. Joe Boylan, NC House District 52

Republican Joe Boylan, Fall 2005, is running for NC House from District 52.When elected, Joe says he will vote for lower taxes, less government and personal responsibility. Luis "Lou" Olivera, District Court Judge

Democrat Lou Olivera, Spring 2005, is running for Cumberland County District Court Judge.Lou believes his career experience, including several years as a prosecutor for the Cumberland County District Attorney and more recently in private practice, designates him to be the best candidate for the job.He states, "My commitment to this community runs deep, from serving in Army intelligence at Fort Bragg through the DA's office to current-day involvement as Vice-Chairman of the Public Works Commission Board of Directors, and Chairman of the attorney's division for the United Way of Cumberland County. T.C. Thompson, Henderson County Clerk of Court

Republican T.C. Thompson, Fall 2005, is running for Henderson County Clerk of Superior Court. T.C. is currently the Assistant Clerk of Court in Buncombe County and is running for the seat his father, Tommy Thompson, is vacating."This community means a lot to me," said T.C. "I want to see that the rights of the people of Henderson County and the laws of North Carolina are upheld. I believe that the office of the clerk of Superior Court is where I can best do this."T.C. is a native of Henderson County and received his Bachelors Degree from North Carolina State University. He also worked in the Wake County Clerk of Superior Court's office before moving home to the mountains.
